Nic Cycles Ireland (with a golf trolley)
Nic Cycles Ireland
My Story
I'm raising money for Maggie's Royal Free, based at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead. Maggie's are warm, welcoming spaces built on the grounds of NHS hospitals. They have a team of qualified staff including cancer support specialists, debt and benefits advisor and psychologist providing free cancer support to anyone who needs it. No appointment is needed and anyone can drop in any time when they need support.
Over 20 years ago Tony Hawks (the comedian not the pro-skater!), found his way around Ireland with a fridge for company, it spawned a lovely tale, and it may have planted this seed of an idea. My plan is to cycle the island of Ireland, unsupported, dragging not white goods but a loaded golf trolley over 1700 miles and the equivalent of over 2 and a half Everest's. It’s an attempt to combine four personal passions, long-distance cycling, ‘links’ golf courses, sustainability and hanging out with interesting people in pubs. I’m expecting some ‘challenging’ conditions, my share of dark moments, more than my share of dark pints, some quizzical looks, and the opportunity to test the legendary Irish hospitality to its limits. I’m funding this myself but want to use this as a great opportunity to raise cash for a Maggie's. I’m also keen to highlight that you don’t need to drive to your local golf club.
Please help me support this amazing cause if you can.
